Novo Nordisk interview preparation: what matters

Novo Nordisk is a global pharmaceutical company focused on serious chronic diseases. Its graduate hiring process is more specific than a generic job interview: candidates can encounter programme-manager interviews, a virtual recruitment centre and a business case.

Graduate Programme application and interview stages

The following stages are described by Novo Nordisk for its Graduate Programme. Other roles, including Novo Nordisk Consulting, can use different interview formats.

01 · Application

Select your track and submit required documents.

02 · First interview

Shortlisted applicants speak with the programme manager.

03 · Recruitment centre

A virtual assessment including a simulated business case.

04 · Final interview

Selected applicants attend a second interview.

Graduate eligibility: what to check

Its application guidance references a recent master’s degree, international experience, English fluency, mobility and limited post-master’s full-time work experience. These are programme-specific expectations; requirements can differ by track, country and intake.

Do not confuse the tracks: Novo Nordisk Consulting describes consulting-style case interviews in its own recruitment. Those rounds should not be presented as a universal Graduate Programme requirement.

Worked finance case: should Novo invest in manufacturing capacity?

Illustrative case, not a real Novo Nordisk investment or interview assignment. A hypothetical project requires €120m upfront and generates €32m of annual incremental free cash flow for five years. Assume a 10% discount rate and no terminal value.

Recommendation framework: The base-case NPV is only marginally positive. Request evidence on demand, capacity utilisation, implementation costs, validation, quality and regulatory requirements before recommending conditional investment.

Worked supply chain case: reducing shortages without excess stock

Original operations exercise. Assume a critical component is used at 1,000 units per week, the supplier lead time is four weeks, and the team holds 1,500 units of safety stock.

Lead-time demand + safety stock

If supplier lead time rises to six weeks, the reorder point increases to 7,500 units under unchanged demand and safety-stock assumptions. A strong answer should also address qualified alternative suppliers, shelf life, quality controls, demand uncertainty and cross-functional escalation.
